Setting Up Carriers, Carrier Commissions, and Lines of Business in Better Agency

Follow this step-by-step guide to set up your carriers, customize carrier commissions, and manage lines of business. This configuration ensures accurate tracking of your agency's expected revenue in dashboards and reports.

Step 1: Access Carrier Commissions

  1. Click your Name in the top-right corner of your Better Agency screen.
  2. Select Better Agency from the dropdown menu.
  3. Navigate to the Carrier Commissions tab.

Step 2: Adjust Default Commission Rates

  1. Locate the Defaults section at the top of the Carrier Commissions tab.
    • Default percentages for New Business and Renewal Business will be displayed.
  2. Click the Pencil Icon next to Defaults to edit these rates.
  3. Update the default percentages as needed and save changes.
    • These defaults will automatically apply to all carriers and lines of business unless overridden.

Step 3: Add New Carriers

  1. Click the Add New Carrier button.
  2. Search for the carriers you work with and click Add Carrier.
    • You can select and add multiple carriers simultaneously.
  3. Once added, carriers will appear in your list.

Step 4: Customize Lines of Business for Each Carrier

  1. Select a carrier from the list.
  2. Review the preloaded lines of business.
    • Use the Trash Icon to remove lines of business you don’t work with for that carrier.
  3. To add additional lines of business:
    • Click Add Line of Business.
    • Search for relevant lines of business and select them.
    • You can add multiple lines at once.

Step 5: Override Default Commission Rates (Optional)

  1. For carriers or specific lines of business with unique commission rates:
    • Select the carrier and corresponding line of business.
    • Edit the commission percentages to override the default rates.

Step 6: Remove Unused Carriers

  1. If there are carriers listed that you do not work with:
    • Select the carrier.
    • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Delete Carrier.

The commission percentages you configure here feed into:

  • Expected Revenue displayed on your dashboard.
  • Sales and Agency Reports, ensuring accurate financial projections and performance tracking.
